Considering the Birds When You Remove Trees

I once made the mistake of cutting down a tree on my property without considering the fact that many beautiful birds would no longer have a place to roost. Sometimes a tree has to go, or at least be scaled back, but I didn’t want to do it again without considering the local wildlife. So it was great to have a resource detailing all the ways I can make the necessary modifications to my backyard without totally destroying potential habitat. There are many ways to do it, from significantly pruning a tree while still leaving enough of its canopy intact, to cutting a trunk while still leaving a nesting hollow in place, to installing nesting boxes on other remaining trees. The birds still have a home, and I got to make the changes I needed.
